Cheyenne Raines, 23, was killed in Muncie after two men stopped to help her. Rylynn Joshua Davis faces murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and other charges.
MUNCIE, Indiana — A 23-year-old woman was fatally shot after prosecutors say her boyfriend dragged her down a sidewalk and opened fire on two men who stopped to help her in Muncie, Indiana.
Cheyenne Raines was trying to leave the home she shared with Rylynn Joshua Davis, 21, when Davis allegedly followed her outside, assaulted her, and dragged her by the feet as she screamed, according to reports citing court records and prosecutors.
Two men in a pickup truck stopped after seeing Raines being dragged. Authorities say Davis opened fire, shooting one man in the head and another in the abdomen, before fatally shooting Raines. Raines died at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Davis is charged with murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated battery, criminal confinement, domestic battery, criminal recklessness and neglect of a dependent. Authorities also reported finding three young children locked in a bedroom in deplorable conditions inside the home.
The public harm is direct: a woman trying to leave was dragged into the street and killed, while the people who tried to help her were shot.
