Three Women Charged After 7-Year-Old Jor’Dynn Duncan Died With Roughly 90 Injuries
Suffolk County prosecutors say Jor’Dynn Duncan suffered months of alleged abuse before dying from an untreated infection tied to sharp-force injuries.
BAYPORT, New York — Three women from the same Long Island family have been charged after prosecutors said 7-year-old Jor’Dynn Duncan died with roughly 90 injuries on her body following months of alleged abuse inside a Bayport home.
Jor’Dynn was taken to a hospital unconscious on Dec. 29, 2025, and was pronounced dead. An autopsy found she died from a massive untreated infection caused by sharp-force injuries, and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office documented approximately 90 injuries on her body.

Prosecutors said Emily Kelly, 50, had custody of Jor’Dynn and was the fiancée of the child’s father. Kelly’s mother, Barbara Renner, 75, and Kelly’s daughter, Elyssa Seymore, 24, were also charged. Kelly faces murder charges, Renner faces manslaughter and child-endangerment charges, and Seymore faces unlawful-imprisonment and child-endangerment charges.
Authorities allege Jor’Dynn missed roughly 40 school days while Kelly gave false explanations for her absences. Investigators also recovered cellphone evidence prosecutors described as documenting systematic abuse.
The public harm is direct: a 7-year-old child was placed with adults who were supposed to care for her, then died after alleged abuse, missed school days, and untreated injuries.
The accountability question now sits with Suffolk County: who was checking on Jor’Dynn Duncan before she died?
